Asbestos abatement under the bleachers in the North Gym was completed last week and subsequent air quality tests returned with clean results. On Wednesday, Dec. 4, work began to remove the drop ceiling in the gym to expose the wood trusses, and sections of the bleachers have been removed as workers prepare to install wood piers to shore up the trusses. This process could take up to 14 days. The adding of the piers is to support the trusses so they do not fail any further.
At this time the Board of Education is awaiting options and estimates on what options the district may have moving forward with the building.
Superintendent Chris Spencer will host town hall meetings beginning in January to address the Intermediate School with the school community. Those dates will be announced in the coming days.
