The Coal City Intermediate School Beginning Band has been hard at work this school
year learning music on their instruments.
This past Thursday, Dec. 5, they performed their first band concert along with the Coal City Middle School CadetBand. The band performed songs with complicated rhythms and our first five notes. Some of the songs they performed were “Hot Bundt Cakes,” “Beethoven’s Joy,” and “Jingle Bells.” The band did a terrific job and really enjoyed playing for their families and community members.
During group sectionals, we take the time to work through songs and unique challenges for each instrument group. We have also taken time this month to go play for classes, like Mrs. Kodat’s music classes. It has given the band students a unique opportunity to perform in small groups and practice performing in front of an audience.
“We hope you can make it out to our next performance at the Coal City Fine Arts Festival on Sunday, Feb. 23 from 1-4 pm at Coal City High School,” said director Andrew Brimm.
