Students in Ms.Miller’s fifth science class created a terrarium to begin thinking about living and nonliving things in an ecosystem.
The terrarium is a model ecosystem. The students paired up and designed their ecosystem with mulch-like dirt, they distributed alfalfa and ryegrass seeds, watered their ecosystem, and then covered the area with decomposing leaves.
The groups covered their terrariums and placed them in the classroom to grow. After a few weeks, their grasses are growing.
“ It has been a fun and educational experience,” Ms. Miller said.
