Mending Myla’s Heart

February is American Heart Month and it comes at a time that sixth grader Myla Kramer is being added to the heart transplant list.

Myla has battled several heart issues since birth and undergone numerous surgeries. It is now time for her to receive a new heart.

Myla’s teacher, Angie Roudis shared the sixth grader is “excited and waiting to be placed on the transplant list.”

“As part of Myla’s school family, we have organized a few different fundraisers to help with medical expenses and travel costs,” Roudis said.

On Wednesday, Feb. 14 [Valentine’s Day] students in the school district can participate in Hat Day by paying $2 to wear a hat and staff members will be allowed to wear jeans as long as they contribute $5. All funds raised will go to support Myla and her family with upcoming medical and travel expenses.

Additionally, the community can join in by purchasing a Mending Myla’s Heart T-shirt. The cost is $15 per shirt and proceeds will go to the Kramer Family. Orders are due by Feb. 8 and can be placed on-line via revtrak at https://coalcity.revtrak.net/r1#/f/mending-myla-s-heart-t-shirt
