Family Wellness Night is just a week away

The Coal City Community Unit School District’s Family Wellness Night is one of the year’s most popular events and this year there will be over 80 vendors.

“It is such a great event for our community, there is truly something for everyone to participate in or a service to learn about,” Unit 1 Superintendent Chris Spencer said.

Sponsored by the district’s Wellness Committee, the Wednesday, Feb. 19 the event provides attendees a variety of wellness activities and vendors in the areas of physical, emotional, mental and financial health, as well education, security and recreation.  There will be pickleball, ping pong, and mini golf for kids and adults to participate in and have some fun.  As the committee has long pointed out there is more to wellness than good eating and exercise.

On the topic of good eating, the event will see the return of the popular food court where samples will be provided including items from The Cove, Nelly’s, Subway, Morris Hospital and Coal City School Food Services. There will be demonstrations, kids, giveaways and prizes.

Family Wellness Night will be held at Coal City High School.  Admission is free and all activities and services are provided at no cost to attendees. Doors open at 6 p.m. and close at 8 p.m.
