Course Description
This year your child's math class will consist of a 90 minute math class. Coal City 5th graders use the enVision Math series. It consists of 16 chapters, which we attempt to finish in the 174-day school year. In order to complete this task, there will be independent practice (homework) assigned almost every night.
Students will have as much time as possible in math class time to start these practice problems. Students will self-check their homework during the next class period, and the assignments will be collected and graded on completion/effort. No credit will be given for problems that are left blank or if work isn’t shown. In addition, tests will be given at the conclusion of each chapter to assess learning and understanding of the material.
Typically, 4-5 tests will be given each trimester. After the tests are scored and recorded, a grade sheet will be sent home with the updated cumulative grade on it. This grade sheet MUST be signed by a parent/guardian and returned the next school day.
