On a Mission

Aubree Dearth, a student at Coal City Intermediate School,  set out on a mission to raise funds for childhood cancer—specifically the Megan’s Mission Foundation, a non-profit organization established to support Megan Bugg’s mission to end childhood cancer.

Inspired by her mom who once shaved her hair for charity, Aubree pledged to do the same and she did just that in front of her family, friends and peers on Monday. One day ahead of Megan Bugg’s birthday.

Dr. Kent Bugg, Megan’s dad and president of the Megan’s Mission Foundation, was there to speak about his daughter who passed away in March 2022. He was also there to support Aubree, who like Megan wants to do something to end childhood cancer.

Aubree’s efforts raised over $7,500 to support the work of the foundation. Each student at the Intermediate School was given a Megan’s Mission bracelet, a reminder to continue Megan’s Mission.
