Today is a 1:25 Dismissal Day.

I have a surprise for you at recess today!

We have an assembly in the North Gym at 12:45.

Congratulations to the Miners Football players & Cheerleaders during their opening game yesterday. They defeated the Plano Reapers 29-7.  Shout out to Elliot Munsell, Cooper Lardi, Mikey Tworek, and Levi Hennessy, who all scored a touchdown!

If you do something amazing outside of school, have your parent email me (tcarlson@coalcityschools.org) and I'll include it in our announcements.

Reminders 

Regular School Day ~ 8:00-2:50 (doors open 7:45)

Morning Arrival

CCIS doors open and our supervision begins at 7:45 a.m. each morning.

If your child arrives at school after 8:00 a.m., please enter the building with your child at Door 1 and see Mrs. Scrogham at the front desk so you can sign-in.  You can park in our Visitor Parking right by Door 1 if you arrive late.

Car Rider Process - The "sweet spot" for arrival time is usually 7:50-7:55. This timeframe is typically less busy and still gives ample time for your child to get to class by 8:00. 

  • Drive South on Baima St. and drive slowly next to the sidewalk East of CCIS. Do not park your vehicle here. This line needs to be continuously moving.
  • Students can exit your vehicle anywhere along the sidewalk OR by the parking cones you will see blocking off the Visitor Parking as you approach the main entrance at Door 1.
  • Students will enter Door 1, where you will see Mr. McCleary &/or Mrs. Carlson.
  • After you pass the parking cones, you can (1) continue straight to keep driving South OR (2) turn right into our South parking lot, drive around the parking lot, and head back North on Baima St. to reach Division St/Route 113.
  • You also have the option to park in the South lot and walk your child up to Door 1.

Afternoon Dismissal - Students are dismissed at 2:50

Car Rider Process 

  • You can (1) park in the South lot and wait for your child OR (2) park near the Public Library on Garfield St. and wait for your child.
  • Do NOT park on the East side of CCIS.

Bus Information ~ If your child is bus eligible, he/she will board 1 of 6 buses after school:  L, 15, 17, T, O, M.  If your child is not assigned to one of these six buses, he/she will take one of the designated "shuttle buses" (T, O, M) to CCES, where they will board their assigned bus. 

We have several staff members to help with this at both the IS and the ES to ensure the students get on the appropriate bus each day. Call our office with any questions at 815-634-2182 ext. 0.

Other Tips:

It’s a good idea to bring a water bottle and snack to school each day. 

After school if your ride is missing and you don’t see us outside to help, you should ALWAYS come to Door 1 at the Main Office and push the doorbell. We are here to help you! 

Reminder…Hats must be removed when you're inside the building and you cannot have your hood on/up inside the building.
