CCIS Faculty and Staff

Coal City Intermediate School is proud to serve approximately 300 fourth and fifth grade students as part of Coal City Community Unit School District #1. We are honored to be recognized as an Exemplary School by the Illinois State Board of Education—an achievement that places us among the top 10 percent of elementary schools in the state.

At Coal City Intermediate School, we are committed to academic excellence and the development of the whole child. Our caring and dedicated staff build strong relationships with students and strive to create a positive, supportive environment where every child feels valued. While we maintain high academic standards, we also place great importance on developing positive character traits—because we believe kindness matters.

Our school offers a wide variety of opportunities for students to explore their interests and grow beyond the classroom. Programs and activities include Student Council, Spelling Bee, Ag Jeopardy Team, Science Fair, Band, Wrestling, Career Fair, School Store, Talent Show, Olympic Day, reading incentives, interactive assemblies, and a top-quality musical production.

We also value and encourage family involvement through events such as Donuts with Grown Ups, Muffins with Me, Family Bingo, a Bean Bag Tournament, Daddy/Daughter and Mother/Son Dances, and Grandparents Week.

Our students actively participate in charitable efforts that support those in need, pediatric cancer research, and the American Heart Association—further reinforcing the importance of compassion and community.

At Coal City Intermediate School, we work hard, play hard, and grow together every day!
